March Madness - Friday Night starting at 6PM in the OLGC Gym
Come out and support our children in 5th-8th grades in a 3 on 3 basketball competition. Teams will be in 4 brackets: 5/6 grade boys, 5/6 grade girls, 7/8 grade boys, & 7/8 grade girls. Everyone can come so please bring your parents, aunts, uncles, neighbors and all students . The cost is $1.00 to get in and snacks will be sold. All proceeds support Student Council.
March Newsletter
Dear Parents,
March is a very transitional month both weather-wise and here at school. Spring is right around the corner. Yet winter tries to stage a comeback every once in a while. We are nearing the end of the school year, but we are not quite there just yet.
The season of Lent will continue for all of this month. This is a time when we need to prepare ourselves for the Joy of Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. Easter is about new life. We celebrate Jesus whose light was not extinguished by death but shines brightly because of his resurrection. By virtue of our Baptism, we too share in that resurrection. These remaining weeks will take us through the end of winter clear through the beginning of Spring. During this time we need to reflect on the Gospel message and how well we are living up to God’s law of love. We shall watch and pray with Christ. We should all do our part.
Marks for the second trimester will close on March 5th. Report cards will be distributed on Monday, March 15th. Terra Nova Testing for Grades K, 1, 2, 3,4,5,6, and 7 will take place on March 8-12. The In View Test, which is the test of Cognitive Skills, will be administered on March 8th to Grades 3,4, 5, 6, and 7.
Our Second Grade will receive their First Penance on Thursday, March 11th (Room 1B) and 18th (Room 3B). It is most appropriate that the children will receive this sacrament during this penitential season. Bishop Thomas will confer the sacrament of Confirmation to our 5th Grade student on Tuesday, April 6th at 4pm. The 5th Grade will not have to report to school that day in order to make preparations for the afternoon. More information will follow. First Eucharist will be celebrated on April 17th and 24th for our children in Grade 3. Congratulations to of these sacramental classes.
