Summer Music Program by Mike Dettra

-This summer I will be running music programs for students of all ages. Private instrument lessons will be offered as before. I am also offering group band classes for those who already play an instrument and those who do not. These classes are for all ages but students will be grouped according to age and experience. Younger students will learn how to sing, play instruments and work together in a band. In addition to playing instruments, singing, and performing together in a band, older students will be encouraged to write and perform their own songs. Song writing skills and techniques will also be taught to those interested. Basically it will be al the really fun things we do in music class with a lot more instruments, a lot less people per class and a lot more room in the gym to be loud and go crazy with music.

-Private lessons will be 30 minutes long. Group lessons will be between 45 and 90 minutes depending on age and availability of students. The fee for group lessons will be $10 per lesson and $25 per lesson for a private lesson. Checks should be made payable to each individual teacher. Cash payments should be in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on it. Mr. Dettra will be teaching group lessons.

-Students taking private lessons are required to obtain their own instrument. In the case of piano players, a piano or keyboard will suffice. Piano players will not need to bring a piano or keyboard to class. Percussionists/drumset players will only need to bring drum sticks to their lesson. All other instruments can be purchased or rented from local music stores. You may ask Mr. Dettra for recommendations. Students participating in group class should bring an instrument if they have one.

-Classes will run from the week of June 29th through the week of July 20th.

The parents hereby agree as follows: To enroll their child in the instrumental program. The parents agree to pay the instructional fees as specified above. The parents will provide a suitable instrument and accessories for their child to use during practice and lesson times. Please return this contract to Mr. Dettra ASAP.
